1943 Classified Russian Phrase Book US War Department Booklet WWII
This US War Department Russian Phrase Book is dated December 4, 1943 and features a classified warning on the front. Inside the back cover there is an inscription which reads something like:
"With great pleasure met a group of American wishing to expand our contacts. - Vl Kvarikheli"
It is likely this was written by a Russian soldier upon meeting a group of American soldiers as a kind of friendly exchange as they were allied in the fight against Germany. It adds historical context to an otherwise ordinary US issued Russian phrase book. The book itself has some condition issues ranging from dog eared corners to a tear in the rear cover, but it is generally in excellent condition for a field used booklet. It has a partial label on the cover indicating that it's classified status has been removed, which only some versions of this manual received.
